The County Limerick townland of Lacka lies in the Killagholehane district of the county. Lacka House is one of the most important country houses in the region and was built in 1830. The townland held its own race meeting when results were reported in the Historical List of Races. The 3 day meeting opened on Tuesday 19th June 1753 with a Silver Cup which saw Mr Higginson’s Buckinger defeat Miss Flirt. The Purse on Wednesday 20th June went to Jenny Cameron, owned by Mr Burrows, while the meeting closed on Thursday 21st June with a Subscription Purse which also went to Mr Burrows via his Pettycoat Tight. There is no evidence of further meetings in the townland. |
